The lady Eagles added two more wins the past two weekends by defeating North Idaho College and Colorado Northwestern Community College. The team put up a good fight against College of Southern Idaho, falling short. The ladies are 3-5 in season, fighting to secure their position of fourth place in conference.

During their first match on the Oct. 17-18 weekend, USU Eastern faced CSI, the third highest ranked team in the country. CSI defeated the Eagles 24-26, 11-25, 21-25.

Melissa Judd led the team in kills with five, followed by with Jasmine Covington and Carly Dalton with four kills each. Koralys Gonzalez with 10 digs led the team with Melissa Judd following with eight. Leading the Eagles in blocking was Kyndall Gardner followed by Michaella Crooks with five and Whitney Riffle four.

On Oct. 18, the Eagles returned to face NIC, defeating them in four sets: 25-19, 24-26, 25-22, 25-21. Judd led the team with 17 kills with Dalton contributing to the success of the team with 13 kills. Gonzalez led the team with an amazing 29 digs, a new high, and Judd following with 12. Gardner once again led the team in blocks with seven and Crooks three.

Middle blocker Michaella Crooks said, “It was an amazing game, and we came together to achieve success. It was a well-deserved win after coming so close the first time playing them. We knew that we could win if we played our game and took the things that we worked on in practice and applied them in the game. It showed us that our hard work has paid off, and we are excited for the rest of our season.”

The next weekend the team traveled to Rangeley, Colo. to face the CNCC Spartans. The Eagles returned victorious after defeating the Spartans 3-0 25-23, 25-17, 25-18. Covington, Judd, and Riffle led the team with nine kills each. Leading the team with digs was Gonzalez with 14; following closely was McKenzie Burrows with 10. Dalton led the team in blocks with six with Covington following with five.

The Eagles will finish out their season away from home. The team will face Snow on Oct. 31, and Salt Lake Community College on Nov. 1.
