CEU cafeteria employee passes away at 23

A 23-year-old cafeteria employee died on Oct. 24. Josalyn “Jawsy” Clare Ryan was a server-prep cook in the College of Eastern Utah cafeteria. She loved Eyore the donkey from Winnie the Pooh and would dress up as him every Halloween.
She loved the color yellow and liked to be wild and crazy. She once paid to get a snake wrapped around her.
Her boss, Jonathon Bergthold said she gave him this thought a week before she died, “You live only once. But if you live right, once is enough.”
One day before she died, Jessica Bailey, a CEU cosmetology student and coworker had planned on Ryan being her model in the Fantasy Hair Day competition on Oct. 25.
Ryan graduated from Carbon High School in 2000 where she was the first student to letter in music. She has attended CEU.
She was kind and sweet. She loved to play jokes (friendly) on Donna Alexander and her mother, Annette, who both worked in the cafeteria with her. Alexander said Ryan was helpful, never complained and was a fun-loving, wonderful person. She loved children and was one of God’s choicest children.
Ryan is survived by her mother, Annette from Price, and many other relatives. Funeral services were in Helper with interment in Springville’s Evergreen Cemetery on Oct. 29.
