Discrimination needs to stop

Discrimination is the unfair treatment of a person or group on the basis of prejudice (wordnetweb.edu)
Discrimination has been a problem for people for years and years. This is odd to me, because it’s silly and wrong. Martin Luther King Jr. once said “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

Discrimination has been a problem for people for years and years. This is odd to me, because it’s silly and wrong. Martin Luther King Jr. once said “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
It is something that matters and is something that needs to come to an end. It happens every day, an African American sits next to a Caucasian on a bench and the Caucasian either moves or tells the African American to move, an Arab man who is a citizen of the United States can’t get on airplane before he is asked hours of questions, a Gay Straight Alliance club will put posters up about the club around a campus and the next day they will be torn down. The Jewish people were placed in concentration camps and killed because of what they believed along with gypsies and other ethnicitys.
Discrimination tears people apart, when we should be all untied. The phrase “united we stand, divided we fall” is something we all need to remember. Imagine how many great things we could accomplish if we all worked together and didn’t judge one another for something we can’t control like race, ethnicity, sexuality, or for things we can control like religion or other beliefs.
Personally, I think those who discriminate are afraid and have a personal issue with themselves. They don’t understand that everyone is equal. Usually, those who discriminate, feel that way because of what they have been taught throughout their lives. I believe no one is born to hate, if we were to place a 3-year-old Caucasian child and a 3-year-old Hispanic child they wouldn’t see a difference and they would become friends. Don’t teach your children to discriminate. We should all work harder to act like little children when it comes to loving everyone despite what they look like or what they believe.
Everyone is human. We all have feelings weather you are black, white, gay, straight, Christian or Atheist. We all feel sadness, all laugh, all love and most importantly deserve to feel loved. King Jr. said “Hatred paralyzes life; loves releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.” We are all equal.
