The Eagle, USU Eastern and the surrounding community mourns the passing of our dear writer, colleague, student and buddy Daniel “Danny” Pike who was killed in a automobile accident on US-6 on Sunday, Oct. 2016. Danny has been a main-stay at The Eagle for several years, who demonstrated an over-qualified skill as a news writer and overall go-getter. Danny was always there to pick up the slack and deliver when the staff needed him most, often putting his friend’s needs above his own.

Danny was known by nearly all and liked by just as many, you couldn’t help but be drawn to his friendly and lay’d-back demeanor. As his editor he was one of a rare breed whom I never had to harass or worry about because it could be trusted that he would always come through. At 30, old he touched the lives of many at The Eagle and in the USU Eastern community that the loss of him will be felt far and wide.

I for one will miss looking up from my desk and seeing him working on articles, expounding on the world as he saw it or passionately and kindly disagreeing with me on the accuracy of Marvel movies.

To Danny’s family and friends, from all of his here at The Eagle, we feel and share in your loss and hope you take comfort in knowing that Danny left the world a better place than when he found it, he will be sorely missed and certainly never forgotten.
