This year's graduates will walk in College of Eastern Utah's 72nd Commencement Exercises at 10:30 a.m. on May 1, 2010. Utah Gov. Gary Herbert is scheduled to address students with Nicolas Cox and Dawn Tobey named as co-valedictorians.

Herbert is Utah's 17th governor and has served as lieutenant governor, county commissioner and is a staff sergeant in the National Guard. He has had a career in real estate and started a childcare service with his wife Jeanette. Herbert sits on the National Governor's Association Health and Human Services standing committee, the Healthcare Reform Task Force and the Homeland Security Special Committee.

Co-valedictorians Nicolas Cox and Dawn Tobey will speak at graduation.

Cox maintained a 4.0 GPA during his past two years at CEU while serving as an ambassador for the college. He grew up in Spring Glen, Utah, and graduated from Carbon High School. He spent two years in England on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is studying to become a pharmacist and planning a wedding to fiance Whitney Oliver.

Dawn Tobey was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada, in the small town of Lyons Brook. She plans to follow her family's footsteps and obtain a geology degree from Dalhousie University. Her summers were spent at her family's cabin on an island off the coast of Nova Scotia. Tobey has worked as the math tutor for the past year and taught a semester of traditional Scottish dance called "Highland Dancing."
